About
AS220 Community Studios is an art and design program for adults ages 18 and up, committed to providing affordable access to studio equipment and arts education. AS220 centers its programming on Black and Brown people, those who are formerly incarcerated, parents, and anyone else who faces barriers to arts access. Facilities span a printshop, fabrication lab (laser cutting, vinyl cutting, CNC routing, 3D printing, woodworking), media arts studio (photography, audio and video production, computer and web applications), darkroom for black-and-white film photography, and an apparel design studio. Affordable membership provides access to this equipment along with instruction in printmaking, visual arts, music, woodworking, media, photography, apparel, and maker technology. The main studios are located at 131 Washington Street in downtown Providence; the darkroom is a few blocks away at 115 Empire Street. Open Fridays and Saturdays.
