Old Sturbridge Village
About
Old Sturbridge Village recreates the texture of everyday life in early 19th-century rural New England across a campus of more than 40 historic buildings relocated from around the region. Costumed historians engage visitors directly in period activities โ cooking, farming, blacksmithing, printing โ emphasizing conversation and participation over passive observation. Heritage-breed livestock roam the grounds, and seasonal programming ties the experience to the rhythms of an agricultural year. The museum places deliberate emphasis on community, daily life, and the experience of ordinary people rather than famous figures or dramatic events.
