RISD Museum
About
The RISD Museum is the teaching museum of the Rhode Island School of Design, and its collections reflect the school's conviction that art and design are inseparable from everyday life. More than 100,000 works span the full range of human creative production β ancient Egyptian artifacts, Asian ceramics, European painting, American decorative arts, contemporary sculpture, fashion, and graphic design β organized to draw out connections across culture and time rather than enforce strict chronological separation. Free admission on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings makes it one of the most accessible art museums in New England. The museum occupies several connected buildings in downtown Providence adjacent to the RISD campus.
