Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science
About
The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science opened in 2017 in Biscayne Bay's Museum Park in downtown Miami, bringing a state-of-the-art science center to South Florida. With over 250,000 square feet of space, it is one of the largest science museums in the southeastern United States. The museum's most dramatic feature is the 500,000-gallon aquarium, anchored by the Oculus β a 31-foot-wide oculus lens that forms the ceiling of a deep-sea observation chamber, surrounded by blacktip sharks, stingrays, and sawfish. Visitors can also explore the Frost Planetarium, which features a 67-foot full-dome digital screen for immersive space shows. The science galleries span topics from the physics of light and sound to the ecosystems of the Everglades and the Florida Reef Tract. The MeLaΞ² (Me Lab) gallery explores the science of the human body and cognition, and the Knight Learning Center hosts hands-on programs for children and families. Located in Miami's Museum Park alongside the PΓ©rez Art Museum Miami, the Frost Museum serves a diverse urban community with programs in both English and Spanish. It offers school group visits, homeschool programs, scout and birthday packages, and community access events throughout the year.
